in a sensuous jewel-toned setting kaleidoscope offers a sprung wood dance floor, state of the art p.a. system, film capability, and a 1915 chickering 1/4 grand piano in about 600 sq ft of space. kaleidoscope can seat 50-60 people comfortably
kaleidoscope also has a small library for in-house use featuring a large Middle East section, as well as sections on politics, history (concentrations on US, Russia, France, and China), philosophy, feminism, and fiction.
kaleidoscope has a nice selection of children’s literature.

a non-refundable deposit of 50% is due upon booking, the remainder to be paid when checking into the space.
useful information about booking at kaleidoscope:
kaleidoscope has a p.a. system with a basic mixing board, speakers and two mics/stands–if you want effects or need more mics you will need to supply them
the calendar on this site is kept up to date–any date open on it should be available on a first-come, first served basis
kaleidoscope cannot afford to outright pay any performers. if a cover is charged it is split 50/50 between the house and the talent
kaleidoscope promotes every show but performers are also expected to promote. please do not book a show if you are not willing to promote it to the best of your
ability.
as an arts space (not a bar, not a cafe, not a club) volume must be kept to a respectful level so that kaleidoscope can continue to be a good neighbor. if you want to
perform a louder show at kaleidoscope consider a sunday afternoon, starting after 3 and ending by 10 when noise ordinances go into effect.

kaleidoscope free speech zone is an arts venue dedicated to creating the space and opportunity for local, national and international artists of all types to present their work. kaleidoscope provides an accessible physical space for presentation at no charge to the artists. kaleidoscope also prioritizes community involvement with regular participation in collaborative community arts events, provides a venue for fundraising activities and encourages youth and minority development, presentation and participation in the arts. In addition, kaleidscope provides an outlet for local and regional artists to sell their work. kaleidoscope also provides space for workshops, discussions and classes and a small resource library available for in-house use. Based in the Mission District of San Francisco kaleidoscope is open to all. All events at kaleidoscope are either free or low-cost, allowing artists creative range and community patrons to access a diverse panoply of the arts. kaleidoscope’s mission is based on respect, accessibility, diversity, education and support for the arts and artists.
